SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

NGS show Salt Lake City

Springtime is beautiful in Salt Lake city, as we’re sure the attendees of NGS 2010 will agree. Many of the people attending the NGS conference were also spending time doing genealogy research at the Family History Library using the ScanPro® 2000 microfilm scanners.

Jeri Foster at NGS
Jeri Foster stopped by our booth to pay her compliments to the ScanPro 2000. “It’s so much easier to use than other equipment. I love the flexibility and precision of the scans.”

It was really rewarding to hear their many positive comments and hear which features they considered the most important. Many thanks for stopping at our both and sharing your comments. There are 26 ScanPro 2000s at the Family History Library and there are still people waiting in line to use them. The Church History Library, dedicated last year, is the newest library addition in Salt Lake City, and it houses and maintains the collections that document the LDS Church history. The library is a very well equipped research facility. There are 16 ScanPro 2000s in use at the Church History Library, all using 24” monitors. The patrons there say they really like the ease of use and the many time saving features.

Special thanks to the wonderful people at Ancestry.com for the interesting and well organized tour! Their amazing facility is located in Provo, about 35 miles south of Salt Lake City and close to the BYU campus. They have operations in 9 countries and integrate over 4 billion historical records. They’re truly an example of dedicated people using technology to make it possible to connect historic records to family history. Thanks, everyone!

e-Image Data showed both the ScanPro 2000 microfilm scanners and the new low cost ScanPro 700 at NGS. The ScanPro 700 doesn’t have the automated features found on the ScanPro 2000 but does have many powerful tools for working with microfilm and the price is under $5,000. Attendees enthusiastically agreed that the ScanPro 700 is a good combination for small public and genealogy libraries. Please contact us for more details!
